what Israel did in Lebanon today can rightfully be called a mass terrorist attack; they killed a 9 year old girl, they set bombs off in shopping markets and buses indiscriminately. absolutely evil stuff.

Every day, I start my afternoon by reporting Russian attacks: on apartment buildings, private homes, shopping malls, civilian cars, gas stations, first responders, hospitals, civilian infrastructure, trains, buses, markets.

By this time, we usually know how many people were killed overnight.

Israel’s attack on Hezbollah phones was technically brilliant, sure. It was also absolutely guaranteed that phones would explode in densely packed civilian areas. Markets, malls, taxis, buses. Just look at footage from hospitals. In any other context we’d call that terrorism and it is here too.

Ukraine targets munitions storage facilities.

Russia targets civilians at hospitals, riding buses, shopping in public markets, attending masses in churches, and children at playgrounds.

Ōtepoti - don’t forget, free buses to and from George street markets today (Saturday). Go enjoy the vibe.

I’m not worried about free buses. I think city run groceries will be a near-total waste, and I think rent control will be a net negative. Even so… the place of people who favor markets is on the left of center. The racist personalist tariffs and corruption party isn’t interested.

Michigan Ave is so wide, you could fit markets, food stalls, and small buildings down the center and still have ample room for bikes, buses, and pedestrians.

Introducing an uncosted budget so markets crash, shagging your girlfriend in foreign countries at taxpayers’ expense, buying unlawful water canons, spaffing £m on a useless bridge project & dangerous bendy buses, using racist & homophobic tropes

OUR KEY INDUSTRY could grow in these markets! Especially with small electric buses for on-demand transport. But no. We cling to a dead horse that already smells funny.

My schooling was at first mostly in Cantonese—in crowded exchanges on buses, in wet markets still slick with water from the fishmongers, over soy sauce ham-and-egg rice in cha chaan tengs, beneath ceiling fans in noodle shops.

That’s why we need to buy buses from outside North America because MAN and Alexander Dennis have massive double deck bus markets in Australia, Singapore, Germany, etc. Solaris and Hess make 9-10m buses.

trump's tariffs on steel and aluminum also apply to the EU, China ...
It may be hard for Canada to find new markets. The best plan is to use it here.
Starting with military hardware.
Also clean tech, trucks, buses, trains, construction, farm equipment ...

World Map

New world map toggle is for: Cars · HDV · Buses.

Coverage still differs a lot, 48 markets have a fitted car curve, 24 have Trucks, 16 have Buses. The map redraws on whichever you pick.

I mean, really, then you could have buses straight to the little pop up markets during Christmas, but people would want to walk around, put little food carts on the _big_ sidewalk spaces. Park food trucks where the cop cars usually park! It's well-lit, feels safe.

I don't think we are that far off that mark in some European markets either. Electric only seems to be at 22% for light trucks and 10% of heavy trucks in Sweden for example (mar -26). And then hybrids would come on top of that but I found no figures.
Buses are already at 60%.

My new game Busy Buses has 30 co-designers, and everyone except me is 10 years old. It’s a game created with Year 5 at my kids’ school. I’m selling at Xmas markets and alongside my other games. Profits are going back to the school.

When I was elected night chair of Waterloo Region, our transition team was 50 people. It sounds like a lot, until you realize how many areas of night mayoralty you need subcommittees for. Night markets. Night clubs. Nightlights. Nightstands. Night Buses. Movie nights to watch the Dark Knight!
Are these large mayoral transition committees a common thing in the US?

First it was Mamdani raising millions and having 400 people on teams to transition into office. But even Seattle, which has only 800,000 people.

I’m not aware of anything this large/formal in cities I follow here.

One of the fastest growing e-mobility markets in the world #kenya
Could electric motorcycles help Nairobi clean its air and fight climate change? Kenya is emerging as a global leader in electric mobility, with electric motorcycles, buses, cars and bicycles gaining ground across Nairobi. For the city’s thousands of boda boda riders, the shift from petrol to electric can mean lower operating costs, less noise and reduced exposure to air pollution. The transition also has implications far beyond individual vehicles. Road transport is a major source of air pollution and climate emissions, while Kenya’s electricity grid is powered predominantly by renewable energy. Moving transport from fossil fuels to electricity therefore has the potential to reduce both greenhouse gas emissions and harmful air pollution. But Kenya’s electric mobility revolution faces significant challenges. Electric vehicles generally have higher upfront costs than petrol and diesel alternatives, while charging infrastructure and electricity generation need to expand to support widespread adoption. Innovative approaches such as battery swapping and pay-as-you-drive financing are helping address some of these barriers. From Nairobi’s electric motorcycles to locally assembled electric buses, Kenya’s experience offers insights into how low- and middle-income countries can develop their own pathways towards cleaner, more affordable and zero-emission transport. #ElectricMobility #Kenya #Nairobi #ElectricMotorcycles #CleanTransport #ClimateAction #AirPollution #SustainableTransport...
