#Bushranging
Moonlight circulated in bushranging at the end of the era contemporary to Ned Kelly. He was responsible for the largest gold heist in AU history, but gets largely ignored, perhaps because he took his mateship with James Nesbitt perhaps too far. wearing a ring of his hair to the gallows.

Congratulations to Meg Foster (@mfoster-history.bsky.social) for the release of "Sam Poo: a Chinese bushranger?", an ABC Radio National podcast developed as output of her ABC Top-5 Media Residency in the Humanities. Give it a listen!

As part of my ABC media residency, I got to work with the wonderful History Listen (now 'Rewind') team on an episode about Sam Poo. Interviewing, writing and narrating a podcast was hard work but a super rewarding experience. I hope you enjoy the final product! www.abc.net.au/listen/progr...

Thunderbolt met Mary when on a ticket of leave, was arrested and then escaped from Cockatoo Island, caught up with her and they went bushranging for four years (she was arrested twice but got off). Mary was shot and he continued for another two years.

Wilfully spent the morning in bed finishing Simon Miraudo’s Book of the Banned, an excellent book about Australia’s regressive history of film classification and censorship which offers you a through line as to why the current aus gov is attempting to ban children from using social media

I am new here. Currently looking for an outlet to reach people who have an interest in true crime, Australian history, and independent authors. Here are some books I have either written or helped get published to give you a taste of what I'm all about.

And as promised, the sad tale of Claude Valentine Baston. I might try and find out what happened after his capture but it might take a bit more digging.
