i was using busuu before after stopping the pointless cycle of duolingo but it kind of blows busuu out of the water too. its really well done and also u can play shiritori :)

Busuu and Babbel are good alternatives that I believe don't use AI

Fuck AI. Fuck Duolingo. Use Busuu.
They were already doing this for some of their courses last year. The Irish course is completely ruined, the real human voices have been replaced with AI ones which have their pronunciation all over the place, and in many cases make up sounds that don’t exist in any Irish dialect. It’s awful.
Duolingo will replace contract workers with AI

I gave up a 1338 day streak on Duolingo because I hate the recent changes. The use of AI appears to have instigated a swan dive in quality. Trying Busuu instead. Companies that fire real people and hire AI don't get my money.

So for Japanese, Busuu is wayyy better than DuoLingo. They actually teach me the rules of grammar so I don’t have to guess! And there are no lives so you can study as long as you like. Happy! thanks for the intro @chichar-eon.bsky.social
