Human Rights Watch (HRW) said earlier this month that the AA “may have killed at least 170 Rohingya men, women, and children” in Hoyyar Siri (known as Htan Shauk Khan in Burmese) in Buthidaung Township. It described the May 2, 2024 attack as a “massacre”.

Reports indicate that the villagers of Washilla village in Buthidaung Township have been gathered and threatened to send their children for military training to the AA terrorist group. Those without children are being intimidated to pay 10 lakh MMK.The villagers are facing persecution.

The Maungdaw-Buthidaung road in Arakan was the only all weather road over the fearsome Mayu Range & of huge tactical importance. It was here on 11 March 1944 that Nand Sigh was awarded the VC for leading an attack on a knife-edged ridge under heavy fire, despite being severely wounded.

The military is not the only party perpetuating violence in Rakhine. The Arakan Army (AA), a powerful armed ethnic group in Rakhine, reportedly gained control of over half  of Rakhine last month. Rohingya activists have accused the AA of violence in Rakhine’s Buthidaung.

BREAKING: Myanmar junta jets carried out 3 airstrikes in Buthidaung tonight (Feb 6). The strikes hit the former LID 15 base and nearby areas, reportedly using massive 1,000lb bombs. The explosions were felt as far as the Bangladesh border. High casualties are feared.

We learned precisely nothing new from the same journalist's investigation of Buthidaung, other than that Rohingya respondents were unsurprisingly too scared to speak out in light of his AA minders, against whom there are credible reports of war crimes against Rohingya. 2/3

/2/10. Critically and was kept under observation the attacks of Buthidaung, Rathidaung & there has over 2 lakhs Rohingya Muslims minority & they are in grim situation as food shortages, no Medical supports.

But for the past Nine months Rohingya were in a very dangerous situation

As you know, the AA has been in complete control of the town since mid-May this year.
