📮 Last night I presented my petition to Parliament calling for immediate Government action to reinstate critical Post Office services in Somerton and safeguard rural branches after closures in Charlton Mackrell, Charlton Adam, Butleigh and Baltonsborough.

They need to fix that...

'Contractors from a company called Stabilised Pavements were sent to fix holes on Butleigh Drove, near Walton, when the ground gave way. The lorry was left stuck at a near 45-degree angle, forcing the workers to abandon it.'

Annie moved in with her dad and stepmother. Her father died in 1892, and her girls went to work in service. Annie started looking for permanent work.

In 1894, she took a live-in carer/houseekeeper job in Butleigh, taking care of the Weaver family.

#Butleigh village shop in my constituency will soon shut its doors for good & the post office alongside it will go too, leaving residents without two essential services.

Today, I highlighted we must invest in small, rural shops so they are able to maintain essential services like post offices.

He ranted. He raved. He became paranoid about someone poisoning the cattle, which was sent to Bristol for sale every Friday.

The family doctor lived and worked at Butleigh cottage hospital, literally over the road. He kept an eye on Charlie and posed the possibility of inpatient care.

I was there last year visiting Hemp in Avalon.
Got a dodgy parking ticket and they cancelled it !
I was on the Tor watching the sunrise on the 7/7/77.
Festival was at Butleigh that year.
Last truly hippy festival.

I reckon this might be the Butleigh road: there’s a decent hill less than a mile away, and not the Tor.

Did get to see the Fairies at the Marquee on one of their numerous 'farewell' tours.
Did see Steve Broughton in a band at the 'Glastonbury' 7/7/77 free festival up at the Butleigh monument.
Last true 'Hippy' festival in the UK.

Oh how lovely to see lambs!
I remember driving to Glastonbury Tor one New Year's Day with my mum, years ago, and, as we drove home through Butleigh, we saw tiny lambs skipping in a field. Always a sign that Spring is coming, no matter what the weather does.
Hope you have a lovely day, SW. x

I was on top of Glastonbury Tor for sunrise on 7/7/77.
There was free festival at the Butleigh monument a few miles away.
Last 'pure' hippy festival as punk arrived on the scene.

I walked from Butleigh on the 7/7/77 to be on the Tor for sunrise.
Not been before and walked across the fields not realising there were so many drainage ditches.
I saw some flies in the air (I was under the influence) they were in fact helicopters.
7 on the 7/7/77
KOZMIK !
I did get there in time
