Now I'm just picturing Byron and guests chaotically popping in and out of rooms like a Scooby Doo chase scene #Byron200

I need to get married or do one of those other life events people do gift registries for, so I can register for skulls/skull cups to get that Byron-core aesthetic #Byron200

Lord Byron – “half a Scot by birth, and bred / a whole one” – died 200 years ago #OTD, 19 April 1824

This poem was written in a letter to Thomas Moore from Venice in 1817, when Byron was feeling particularly shagged out after Carnevale…

Will I ever not get sad over Boatswain. Probably not. 😢 #Byron200

Good grief. I'd completely forgotten that the boat that sank, killing Percy Bysshe Shelley, was called the "Don Juan". #Byron200.

I feel that I would be remiss on #Byron200 to not mention Ken Russell's utterly mad GOTHIC. It may not be a good film but it might be a weirdly great one.

As it's #Byron200 this year, I'm renewing my call for a streaming service to upload the BBC's Byron, please and thank you

Interesting! I would love to know who corrected him and where they got their own info! #Byron200

I can't keep track of the timeline tbh! The letter that you quoted about how he had to walk half a mile to his room was from later? #Byron200
August 29, 2025 at 9:05 PM
Maybe he wanted to slide on the floor in his socks and lick ice cream off the spoon without anyone judging him #Byron200

I do feel like it's not THAT mysterious or weird that a kid inheriting a big house after living with his mother and at school for his whole life would be excited about the idea of having privacy #Byron200

and all these people published these first person guidebooks as if they'd been there! but they were probably all just pirated from other guidebooks that were cobbled together from other sources and/or made up by scammers #Byron200
August 29, 2025 at 8:53 PM
I'm still not over the MULTIPLE authoritative sounding Victorian guidebooks I found that claimed to have seen an odd inscription on a headstone in a particular graveyard, yet the headstone almost certainly did not exist because the inscription was a garbled version of an old dirty joke #Byron200

That would be a normal domestic arrangement for sure but I can so easily imagine someone like Wildman thinking well Byron had a valet so he must have slept here and then just saying it as fact. There are so many things stated as fact in books and letters that turns out to be fake! #Byron200
August 29, 2025 at 8:49 PM
how did the rooms connect originally? i ask bc one would assume....stairs. did wildman just put in FANCIER stairs? #Byron200
