We identified zinc-finger associated domain (ZAD)-containing C2H2 zinc-finger proteins (ZAD-ZnFs) as insulator-binding proteins in Drosophila.

Interesting: the molecules HCN and C2H2 found by JWST/MIRI in a Brown Dwarf, apparantly not as expected (those are the best finds).

What proteins are involved in forming these loops? CTCF is absent in non-bilaterians. Using chromatin proteomics and DAP-seq, we identified two ctenophore-specific zf-C2H2 proteins that we called Ctenophore Tethering Element Proteins, which also cannot bind methylated sites.

This study integrated genome-wide association studies and multiomics to identify a C2H2 zinc finger transcription factor linked to linear growth in Gracilariopsis lemaneiformis. Structural and functional analyses, plus binding site validation, revealed it regulates growth by activating minichromosome maintenance helicase genes, bridging genetic variation to phenotypic traits in macroalgae.
