African youths from different countries converged in Kampala, Uganda, for a regional summit seeking to boost agroecology businesses, promote knowledge exchange and create opportunities for young people to participate in sustainable agri-food systems. The Africa Regional Youth Summit on Agroecology Business and Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) Kampala was organised by Participatory Ecological Land Use Management (PELUM) under the theme, “Investing in Youth for Agroecology Enterprises and Inclusive Policy Change.” Speaking to the press at the summit, Medius Bihunirwa, Head of Programmes at PELUM, said the meeting had brought together young people and stakeholders from across Africa to share experiences, explore business opportunities in agroecology and discuss policies that can create a more enabling environment for youth-led enterprises. She said the PELUM Association is a network of about 300 civil society organisations working in 14 African countries and reaching more than 12 million small-scale farmers across the continent. “At our organisation, we focus on different thematic areas, and one of them is youth in agroecology. Abuja, April 28, 2026 (Naija247news) – Stakeholders have reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) through increased investment, scalable agribusinesses, and inclusive food systems in Nigeria. The commitment was made at a Partners’ Roundtable Dialogue on the CAADP 2026–2035 agenda held on Thursday in Abuja, with a focus on bridging the gap between agricultural policy frameworks and enterprise-level implementation.

Staff Reporter NAMIBIA is hosting a Continental Technical Workshop on the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) Kampala Results Framework and Biennial Review Indicators in Windhoek, bringing together African Union Commission delegates, technical experts, regional economic community representatives, and development partners. Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Land Reform, Hon. Ruthy Masake, welcomed participants today, highlighting Namibia’s commitment to advancing agricultural transformation and regional collaboration under the CAADP framework. --- Photo: Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Land Reform --- “Your presence here reflects a shared commitment to Africa’s agricultural transformation agenda,” Masake said. “This workshop comes at a critical time as we collectively refine and strengthen the Kampala Results Framework to ensure it is responsive, measurable, and impactful for our continent.” She added that the Biennial Review process plays a key role in tracking progress, promoting accountability, and fostering peer learning among member states. “It is through such mechanisms that we assess where we stand, identify gaps, and take informed decisions to accelerate progress toward food security, economic growth, and sustainable development,” she said. Masake further outlined Namibia’s own initiatives, including the Namibia Agriculture Investment Plan, domesticated as the Strategy for Transformation of the Agri-Food Sector, which seeks to strengthen agricultural systems through innovation, data-driven planning, and regional collaboration. The workshop provides an opportunity to review the proposed Results Framework, align the framework with AU-wide flagship programs, confirm Biennial Review indicators, and agree on governance, coordination, and implementation roadmaps for the first Kampala Biennial Review cycle. “The outcomes of this workshop will contribute to shaping a more robust and responsive CAADP framework that delivers tangible results for our people,” Masake said. She also encouraged delegates to experience Namibia’s culture and hospitality during their visit. The workshop is expected to foster collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and consensus-building among African countries, reinforcing the continent’s commitment to agricultural development and sustainable growth.
