✨A little recap of our conference
Just a week ago, we were still at the Makerspace of RUB, where our conference “Creating Spaces for Digital Futures” really took off. In the meantime, our energy levels have slowly been restored, + we’re looking back with great satisfaction.

Collage of nine photos showing moments from the conference, including speakers, participants in conversation, and scenes from presentations and workshops. Visual saying: 253 Cups of Coffee, 248 Cold Drinks If we assume 1 coffee = 200 ml and 1 ml ≙ 1 MB of data space 253 coffee × 200 ml = 50,6 L ≈ 50,6 GB Disk ≈ 50,6 GB × (1000 MB / 1,44 MB) ≈ 35,139 Disks 248 cold drinks ≈ 12 minutes of cooling (small server room with ~10 kW of waste heat) Visual saying: ~ 100 Minds, 2 Days, 120 Breakthroughs “Lightbulb moments” (big Aha’s): Rate ~ 0.05–0.15 per person-hour → ~60–185 total “Ideas” (actionable notions/to-dos): Rate ~ 0.3–0.8 per person-hour → ~370–980 total “Micro-insights” (notes, small learnings): Rate ~ 1–2 per person-hour → ~1,225–2,450 total

With this short and not-too-serious recap, we’d like to take a moment to reminisce and say thank you to everyone involved – organizers, helpers, speakers, workshop hosts, idea contributors, enablers, and many more.

Let’s keep the dialogue going!

Photo of workshop participants engaged in a 3D printing session. The text on the image reads: '9 ideas have taken concrete shape.' Photo of workshop participants wearing VR headsets, engaging in a virtual reality experience. The text on the image reads: 'Some simply escaped the reality of the conference for a while.' The text on the visual says: 'Creating Spaces — Continuing the Conversation! The conference showed that the future of our digital – and non-digital – world will not be built by technology alone. It will emerge where public debate, learning and competence, and data infrastructures intersect —where openness meets responsibility, and innovation is guided by trust. Let’s keep these spaces alive — by staying in conversation, sharing perspectives, and continuing to co-create the digital futures we want to live in.'

At Creating Spaces for Digital Futures, workshops and hands-on sessions in the makerspace give participants the possibility to explore ideas together.
E.g., a 3D printing workshop where participants get creative, or a session focusing on virtual reality.
