New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo, coming off a promising rookie season in 2025, sparked discussion after projecting a 2,000-yard rushing season for 2026. Skattebo recorded 400 yards on 100 carries as a rookie before suffering a significant ankle injury that ended his season prematurely. Known for his toughness and physical running style, he has quickly become a fan favorite and a key asset for the Giants. However, during a recent interview, Skattebo confidently claimed that with 300 carries, he would surpass 2,000 yards in the upcoming season. Simple calculations show that maintaining his rookie average would yield closer to 1,200 yards over a full season—still a strong performance but far from the lofty 2,000-yard figure he projected. Analysts and fans alike noted that while his optimism is admirable, the numbers don't quite add up. Despite the questionable projection, the Giants value Skattebo for his on-field skills, leadership, and resilience rather than his mathematical accuracy. The focus now remains on his recovery from the ankle injury and his potential contributions for the 2026 season. Fans are hopeful that he can stay healthy and achieve a productive year, even if it falls short of the ambitious claim he made.
