In Harlem, culture does not wait for perfect weather. A little summer drizzle could not dampen the rhythm, movement, color, or community spirit on Sunday, August 16, as the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute (CCCADI) closed out Harlem Day with the eighth annual Afribembé: Under One Sun festival. From 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Harlem Day Main Stage became a vibrant gathering place for music, dance, history, and the cultural connections that stretch across the African Diaspora. Umbrellas went up when the rain arrived, but the crowd stayed put.
