The Take It Down Act just passed.

To give you the full scope of just how bad this bill is, advocates who typically oppose the pro-230 / online speech crowd have come forward denouncing it.

It is extraordinarily rare we are ever on the same side.

A Brutalist icon in Rhode Island: CCRI Knight Campus in Warwick (1972)

This shatters my heart, especially b/c I wasn't inspired by history until the Western Civilization course I took at CCRI ('07-2010.) This became even more ignited by @hcrichardson.bsky.social letters when she began them! If someone in HS said I'd become an activist after 2015, I wouldn't believe it!
I just got confirmation that National History Day, a program that does more to ignite K-12 students' love of history, learning, and yes, even the United States than anything else I've ever seen, had all its funding cut yesterday by the DOGE-axe at the NEH - including for this year's ongoing contest.

This evening, the House passed the Take It Down Act, a criminal bill that will now be sent to the President for signature. Read CCRI's full statement to learn more about the bill's strengths and challenges.

Congratulations to new Community College of Rhode Island president, Dr. Rosemary Costigan.

CCRI is where my mom was trained as a nurse, so I’m thrilled to see the first alum & nursing leader lead this essential RI institution.

Honored to celebrate this new chapter for CCRI.

I’m so proud to be part of this community, and the incredible work CCRI does in the world 👇🏾
For over a decade, CCRI leadership has been championing both state and federal legislation related to the nonconsensual distribution of intimate images. Here is a thread of gratitude to CCRI's early leaders and a throwback through the last decade. 1/x

@maryannefranks.bsky.social & @daniellecitron.bsky.social are probably the U.S.'s most sophisticated Section 230 critics. They've advocated for better NCII laws for years. Their organization came out against the TID Act, calling it vague & subject to abuse.

No, progressives mad about this bill being bad about where the duties of care lie, and how Trump et al are already crowing how they will abuse the Take It Down Act for censorship.

Even the CCRI expressed immediate concerns.

Bluesky limits to 4 pics… so this will be a long thread.

I’m in the last week of my CCRI program, and next Monday I start a new job. My plate is so full! There is life after a layoff.
