👇🎯💯 Professors don’t get appointed to Fortune 500 corporate boards. CEOs shouldn’t get to dominate university boards.
Appoint actual professors - educators - to the board of regents. No CEOs. No corporate lawyers. The people who do the teaching and research should be running universities. This is the only way they can truly serve the public good.
Higher ed board regents are appointed by the governor in Texas.

Notably UT board chairman Kevin Eltife, A&M chairman Robert Albritton and Texas Tech chairman Cody Campbell's terms are all up in February 2027. All three heavily involved in college athletics at those schools.

"one of the top CEOs in the world" is an absolutely WILD claim 😅
#nzpol This snippet with quotes from Amanda Luxon from Luke Malpass's at times fawning profile of Luxon in Sunday's Star-Times is very revealing "...one of the top CEOs in the world coming in and fixing a country that's almost bankrupt...The knowledge that he lacked in politics is easy to acquire"🙄

In Silicon Valley and around the business world sphincters are tightening of CEOs who decided it was smart business to attach themselves to Trump's ass like barnacles to the hull of a sunken ship. Oops.

I don't think that tobacco company CEOs were ever as unpopular as Elon Musk ,and they killed millions and lied about it for decades! Being really really annoying at that scale is extraordinary.

How many CEOs, university presidents, governors, etc rolled over for Trump not because it was popular but because X warped their perception of what the public thought? There has always, *always* been a huge market for resisting authoritarianism, just not in Elon World.

Musk's pouring millions into our elections while he rakes in $16 BILLION in taxpayer-funded contracts. A fat return.

We need to pass my bill with @robertgarcia.house.gov to close the loophole that lets CEOs grab government contracts with one hand while forking over campaign cash with the other.

1/ Dear dozens of new economic populist members of Congress,

You’ll face fast pressure to deliver economic results. How to do it? Subpoena CEOs. A shocking amount of time, they'll change what they are doing long before you pass a bill or actually cut off their federal funding. So:

We don't know how the world will look tomorrow. (As argued here: fallows.substack.com/p/midterm-co... )

But let us remember who stood up, and who knelt down, during this bleak past two years.

Photo below just tip of the iceberg.
