Terence Stamp came to Brooklyn a couple of times when his films were shown at BAM Cinematek. One time while seeing something else, I ran into him in the lobby. It was a couple of days after an event he'd been a guest at. He said he had decided to stick around and see every movie playing there.

On Friday at 7pm I shall be introducing QUATERMASS AND THE PIT as part of a Nigel Kneale double-bill (with THE STONE TAPE) at Cinematek in Brussels, part of @offscreenff.bsky.social's "The Haunted Isles" retrospective.
Watched Quatermass and the Pit again last night, introduced by @accordingtojond.bsky.social, and was struck by the ending. Not only, as Jon pointed out, the occasionally shot-for-shot inspiration for the end of Raiders ("Don't look at it!") but, I wondered, maybe the first Blockbuster Movie Ending.

Popped into Brussels Cinematek yesterday to see MONTPARNASSE 19 (1958): the last days of Modigliani (Gérard Philipe) & the long-suffering women in his life (Lilli Palmer & Anouk Aimée). Max Ophüls died during production; Jacques Becker took over directing. Lino Ventura plays an evil art collector!
Waiting to go into to “Taxi Driver” at the Cinematek. A young person is very sweetly exclaiming to her friend how surprising it is that so many people want to come to see a film “from so long ago”. They seem excited.

Last night at Brussels Cinematek, the lovely Eléonore and I presented (trilingually!) Jerzy Skolimowski's THE SHOUT. Then I stayed to rewatch it, first viewing in nearly 50 years. Decent 35mm print. Can't think why I haven't rewatched it before, because (as you probably already know) it's superb.

I går så jeg Joachim Triers nyeste film Affeksjonsverdi på et lite cinematek i Mons - og for en fantastisk film det var 🥰 Minnet meg om Bergman.

Seems an apt time to break out this image from Picha's LE BIG BANG (1987), showing at @offscreenff.bsky.social 27 March, Cinematek at 9.30pm. When I reviewed it for MFB in 1987 I hated it; today its vision of a USSSR (sic) run by men who have mutated into Hitler-worshipping blobs seems prescient.
