Based on my "Littoral Commander" #wargame, LTC Daniel Brooks designed "CJTF Commander: The Baltic" to explore operational art and warfare for the US Army War College. The game incorporates several new mechanics and concepts -- which is very exciting. Can't wait to see it in the classroom! 😁 🎲

I did briefly meet CSM Albertson who was the CJTF-OIR CSM in 2019 and he struck me as a kind and thoughtful guy. But apparently he retired back in 2023.

Also if you don't know the lore there was a kerfluffle right after the Soleimani strike involving a draft accidentally being sent to the Iraqi govt announcing a US troop withdrawal

He’s an Air National Guard SOF guy who became assistant commander at JSOC—and who was the CJTF-OIR representative Trump met with when he visited al-Asad during his first term. He made a big impression on that visit.

Or maybe he thought it was the perfect time? Filming took place in LA during the Rodney King riots, so the domestic deployment of the US military in the form of CJTF-LA must have made for an interesting backdrop.

Hey, I stand by my recommendation that we add a unit where students have to plan SPMAGTF-Z or SPMAGTF-G as a component of CJTF-Z or CJTF-G to get them to flex their critical thinking.

That's a good point, particularly if you add CJTF-OIR and *gestures at Bragg* to the list for more recency
I think ARCENT and I know AFCENT had a lot of day to day management upstream of the subunified commands, but yeah the mothership at Tampa didn't have a ton to do

This is a fascinating detail both for the history of US operations in Iraq/Syria and from a civ-mil standpoint—the national security advisor (who is not in the chain of command) directing the CJTF-OIR commander to find a way to talk the president out of his Syria withdrawal orders

To be honest, Godzilla wouldn't be a bad scenario to release as a free promotion. CJTF-G would be a good scenario to get the training audience to really think about what capabilities provide and creative ways to employ them.
