My CKIII brain: Are they feudal or still tribal? Hopefully they’ve moved beyond confederated partition succession at least…

I legitimately have been telling my best friend for years that if he gets that steam notification of fate that I'm playing CKIII again, he needs to activate some mental health contingencies on my behalf. That game + depression = really bad time travel

Feeling faintly bad about not working and just wanting to play CKIII instead, then I remembered I've been asked to write something about war & history in videogames which means that playing CKIII actually IS working, hurrah 🎉

All these right wing weirdos obsessing over Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce having babies need to go play CKIII like normal people and leave us alone.

Further CKIII thoughts: the biggest improvement I think that could be made to the Byz/Administrative system would be cranking the vassal limit down substantially (maybe splitting out baron-level vassals).

By the time Byz. is regaining Syria/Egypt, king-level vassals should be unavoidable.

if you buy a paradox game and have any idea what is going on within the first ten hours of gameplay, they have fucked up beyond all belief. (this is why CKIII is not a good game.)

Me reading, writing, answering emails, playing CKIII, doing literally any other thing on my laptop: cat asleep peacefully beside me

Me in an online meeting: cat miaowing, purring, walking on the keyboard, rubbing his head on the touchscreen, biting my hands, headbutting the camera

Every damn time

I still don't have the East Asia one for CKIII. I yearn for Song China.

Evangelical Christianity could be wholecloth transported into After the End, the post-post-apocalypse mod for CKIII that features berserkers who worship dinosaur skeletons or witches who treat the internet as a lost connection to the collective unconscious and it would fit right in.

My standard CKIII run
The coolest thing about pagan Lithuania, hands down, is the fact that in 1009, we were basically an uncontacted people in the Amazonian sense, in 1200 we were a bunch of illiterate thugs possessed of an immense sense of chutzpah, and by 1350 we were an empire.

And still couldn't read.
I think it really annoyed me because I thought the very concept of a "we descend from the Romans" origin myth grossly devalues the achievements of our actual ancestors by saying they couldn't climb out of the swamp and invent taxation all on their own.
