I know of (nameless) units that require the nurse to place the primary dressing instead of the proceduralist, in the name of CLABSI prevention. I don't know the data in preventing CLABSI but I bet the rate of "immediately re-dressed lines" plummeted.

When I was a resident I always felt like the sepsis police were out to get us. Did you check a lactate, did you see the sepsis alert, did you document why you didn’t do 30ml/kg, etc.
Now though I feel like it’s the CLABSI police.

I don’t know how exactly to do this calculus, but I worry that we forget how painful multiple sticks are for patients with uncorrectable bleeding — and we maybe avoid the harms of CLABSI (a very low probability event with expert nursing) by causing ?greater? harms of lots of pain trying to find PIVs

We literally made CLABSI disappear in a single fiscal quarter by havinf CMS refuse to pay for complications of CLABSI.
