Good day to remember that a US President has no inherent power over tariffs whatsoever. It’s not like war powers or pardons. It’s entirely delegated by Congress to deal with emergencies. GOP Congress cld modify that law tonight and bring this to a screeching halt.

Didn’t watch a ton of it. But the parade seemed embarrassingly low energy. Not saying I’m expecting it but cld say Hegs getting canned over it. He’s definitely yelling at someone tonight.

The key one is, I think, the second impeachment. The other cases he cld have made some stand, done some right thing. But Trump wld have crushed him. In January 2021 he cld have engineered Trump's conviction and barred from office for life. In those few weeks Trump was on the ropes and he cld have.

It is such a pivotal moment. Plenty of times where people say oh you cld be brave, you cld take a stand. But take a stand and get wiped out, corker, flake, cheney. But that was that critical 2 or 3 weeks where Trump was alone and on the ropes. Conviction ends him. It was very doable.
