At the CMAP meeting today. First public commenter says lake shore drive should prioritize transit, walking, biking, and safety, and that a reconstruction of Lakeshore needs to not prioritize cars, a "20th century approach"

it was already fun to look around the documentation for cmap (cmap-docs.readthedocs.io)
but @grosoane.bsky.social just added a very cool feature to toggle between color vision deficiencies. Watch your perceptually uniform color maps gain some kinks 😂

FYI new CMAP data is published as of July 2025
40% of my community area has no car, only 5% of households have 2 cars, and not even 1 in 4 people drive to work… yet we design like this is the main way to get around. Absurd.

It is heartening to see @nitachicago.bsky.social ask for public input when NITA staff is preparing the 2027 Budget rather than waiting for public comment after staff has finalized a proposed budget. (@illinoisdot.bsky.social, CMAP, and CDOT should do the same on DNLSD/Lincoln Park project planning.)

Advocacy works! After CMAP received 1,800 comments opposed to rebuilding North DLSD as an 8-lane highway, the planning organization removed language stating that car-centric scenario for the lakefront road is the "preferred alternative."

The agency will revise outdated language in Appendix E of its regional transportation plan, but North DuSable Lake Shore Drive will remain positioned to compete for future funding.

Next board meeting is gonna be at CMAP apparently so that should be cool, you can yell at both NITA and cmap about redefine the drive in one convenient meeting.
