Looking at it, I’d say Leo’s peak was CMIYC to The Departed, and that’s not very long. After that, he’ll follow up something great like WOWS or OUATIH (side note: he makes a lot of movies with long titles) with not great movies like The Revenant or Don’t Look Up.

I cut it off at 2000 because Road to Perdition was the first one that I just didn’t get or like at all. CMIYC balances it out but that’s why I say hit n miss after Castaway.

I think the Spielberg/Kamiski “look” is more a product of the digital grading tools that took hold of Spielberg during the Minority Report-War of the Worlds production.

My guess for CMIYC being one is that more people do DiCaprio completionism than Hanks completionism, and Hanks is in more Spielberg films so they are spread out views wise. That and pre-21st century films never being as popular on the app as 21st.

In a way, yeah. It would've been way more likely after CMIYC than before. But he was going to roll with Chet's dad until the wheels fell off no matter what.

CMIYC is a heist movie where the heist spans a lifetime. The objective in CMIYC is always more momentum to get to the next scheme rather than a big payout. MC is a nihilist, pathological about cheating, and clearly not in it for the money. That's no way to run a business.

Shoujo Jidai had an amazingly consistent sound! I just found Catch Me If You Can. I didn't realize they still promoted in jp at that time?! It's interesting. I still listen to their 1st JP album sometimes. CMIYC seems like it'd fit right in. Sounds like you could mix a set of their jp songs...

Robocop & Ladybird are great. Knives Out & CMIYC are fun. Both Gangs of New York & GWDT are much better books than movies, even if GNY is a very, very different book (a hilarious history of crime in NY by Herbert Asbury, who also wrote the first cocktail guide for America)
