I'm using CodeLite IDE for my dev. (or Vim) and while it also keeps tabs on the files, it at least explicitly asks whether I want to reload a changed file, overwrite it or just continue with in-memory contents.

i don't know why stuff like codeblocks and codelite even exists, they fail at the most basic things one can ask of an ide.

CodeLite 17.0 (18 has ai)
QT creator (has the option but with clangd it’s great, debugger kinda sucks tho)
CLion (you can disable all ai stuff)
Visual Studio 2019 (uncheck intellicode at install)
Juci++ (super obscure but lightweight)

I'm thinking about biting the bullet and learning neovim. CodeLite starts looking better and better too. There's very little these products have to offer for gamedev.

Another note on maintenance, I have been writing PHP for +20 years and maintaining a PHP completion engine (CodeLite) for 10. PHPantom is the replacement for that project's PHP engine.
