The deep truth of contemporary reactionary politics is that, though they mouth dismissal of postmodernism, feminism, CRT, & intersectionality, they actually believe in all of it but simply want to liberate their exercise of the relevant forms of arbitrary power from any iota of guilt.
One thing that’s interesting about this is that it shows that despite insisting the wokes overinterpet everything, conservatives are actually aware of and agree with their critics about how coded racist appeals work, they just like them bsky.app/profile/newr...

Who else has their popcorn ready (is watching in horror) for a contemporary U.S. version of a Reichstag Fire-style false flag and Enabling Act—Orangeade Pedoführer's imposition of martial law and the completion of our transformation into the Fourth Reich of the Demonic States of PedomeriKKKa?

Even that wasn't as bad as the many crimes of their contemporary, TV-Nihon.

In the modern era (post-WW2, let's say), has there been a Senate caucus with a greater percentage of truly dumb members than the contemporary GOP majority in the Senate?
The teams were wrong.

The leagues were wrong.

The gender of the players was wrong.

The states the teams were from were wrong.

The place the game was played was wrong.

The imagined reason for attending the game was wrong.
KLOBUCHAR: I think that people should have their facts straight before they accuse someone of being a dirtbag, and not get the teams wrong.

SCHMITT: I stand by that statement.

KLOBUCHAR: Teams. You had the teams wrong, sir.

Either the near-contemporary date on this record is incorrect or someone is making a Very pointed statement in advertising "a picture of his Highness" in 1658...

Would you say Cenk is? It gets really muddy when you talk about people who are deeply anti-hegemonic in a contemporary sense but also very stupid about it & reactionsry from a social perspective

I heard some of that song today. Pretty standard contemporary country. It was fine.

It's a fun time! Lotta tactics etc, I'm actually pretty bad at some of the gameplay but that doesn't stop it being really enjoyable.

It also has the skaven, who are horrible little rat men but also one of the most compellingly original fantasy races in contemporary writing

Ghana put out a shitton of stamps for every year's anniversary and a lot of the contemporary collectors complained it was a cash grab but 1) look how joyful and beautiful these are, and 2) Go look for my Marianne des France bitching from yesterday.

I need an contemporary/current example of propaganda coming from the left or left-center. It's for a presentation for 9th graders. (Got a lot from the right, but I want to balance things out.) I can go as far back as Biden, but these are 9th graders, so nothing older than that. What do you got?

Yup! Short write-ups for 14 albums, split between 12 countries and 2 bonus locations. A lot of really fantastic stuff, I'm very happy with most of the selections. Would love to explore contemporary South American music more when I've got less on my plate.

"A satire about the didacticism of contemporary satires" is quite a movie to make during an era when satires are rarely financed or made in any art form because corporations stifle them.
Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s DIGGER is BARDO blended with BIRDMAN, a satire about the didacticism of contemporary satires.

It doesn’t work and Tom Cruise is adrift. “It’s instead a sneering premise awaiting a drop of humanism.”

My review via @ebertvoices.bsky.social
Digger review: Iñárritu and Cruise dig themselves into a metafictional morass
It’s excruciatingly painful that this languid, self-satisfied film doesn’t work.
