This isn't just an Alberta issue - it is an issue for hoary bats across their distribution which is basically North America wide. There may be further mitigation efforts that are appropriate in the more southern parts of their range.

Our teams in Alberta and British Columbia are gearing up to take a closer look at migration patterns for this species. This information would better inform the wind industry - to help avoid siting wind turbines in areas bats use for migration. COSEWIC assessed this species as endangered. 🦇🌎🦊
