November's usually a pretty dry month in Denver (0.64" monthly average precip). A lot of west/south metro saw basically half (or more) of that in the last 24 hours.

The Animas River at Durango had its highest crest in nearly 100 years this morning.

8.95' is the 3rd-highest crest on record, and highest overall since June 1927.

To repeat: What we're seeing in SW Colorado is an extreme event.

The Animas River south of Durango crested at its highest all-time recorded level, cresting at nearly 13 feet.

Previous record = 11.4 feet.

Oh boy. San Juan River in Pagosa Springs is already at a higher level than last month's flood, with a projected peak of 22.11 feet.

That's over *4 feet* higher than the highest crest on record (October 1911).

Statewide snowpack looks very El Niño-y so far, with southern Colorado faring far better than north. And more snow on the way for central/southern Colorado tomorrow night.

San Juans: Highest Nov. 3 snowpack since 2005.

Extremely concerning: the San Juan River at Pagosa Springs is now forecast to rise to nearly 20 feet tomorrow morning.

That would be the highest level ever recorded there, and by nearly two feet. Considerably higher than last week’s flood, also.

Some tentative good news for Pagosa Springs: the San Juan River crested last night at a height of 16.81 feet, and it is forecast to recede below flood stage tonight. 16.81' = below much more dire forecasts.

Still: serious flooding is ongoing across SW CO this morning.
