You may not have heard, but #CPRail is directly challenging the Drainage Act in Chatham-Kent, Ontario. This is a big deal.

With CP Rail suddenly abdicating their costshare responsibilities on drainage infrastructure and maintenance, #CKOnt has taken the necessary step of suing them.

Even with the REV & #RouteVerte, Montrealers are still waiting for a car-free, off-street direct link Laval to central Montreal along the CP rail tracks.
CPRail of course, eager to be a good corporate citizen, promises to allow a bike path beside the train tracks "the day after hell freezes over."

Plugging away at this. The goal is to have a modular GMD SD40-2 model with correct scaling that I can configure to match a variety of different specs.

Of course my current focus is on CPRail/Canadian Pacific‘s DRF-30w series built in 1984, and then I’ll branch out from there.

CPRail (now CPKC) slowly losing quasi-feudal powers over the citizens and getting fined for blocking roads & bridges for hours with stopped trains.
A $200,000 fine is the right size of fine when a train completely cuts off a sector of the town/city for an hour.

For decades, the Drainage Act (1990) has been instrumental to the success of agriculture (&more) in Ontario and our ability to grow more food on less land.

Hosting the NMRA (National Model Railroad Association) layout tour participants today.
A 5 track railroad yard in HO scale with a train of wood pulp on one track and CPRail #4237 on another track. A rock cut and a forested background complete the scene. An HO scale bridge and highway bridge traverse the Spanish River as a canoeist makes his way downstream. A couple of semi trucks meet on the highway.A forested shore is even on the far side of the river. Looking straight down the track of an HO layout, a park parking lot is seen on the right side with a secondary road crossing the track in front of a brown house with cream colored trim.
