Сърповидноклетъчната анемия и β-таласемията са наследствени кръвни заболявания, при които организмът не може да произвежда хемоглобин по нормален начин. При тежките форми на β-таласемията пациентите се налага да получават редовни кръвопреливания, а при сърповидноклетъчната анемия могат да възникнат болезнени пристъпи поради запушване на кръвоносните съдове. Новата терапия, разработена в Китай на базата на редактиране на ДНК, CS-101 и CS-206, вече е позволила на 30 пациенти с тези заболявания или да се откажат от кръвопреливанията, или напълно да премахнат болезнените пристъпи. In a prospective cohort of 206 patients (CHASM-CS), they found that ALL ventricular arrhythmia events occurred exclusively in patients with the high-risk (pathology-frequent) LGE phenotype.

There were NO events in the low-risk patients.
