It’s absolutely people being silly and joking, but what are the cues that would explain that to an LLM?

“Any animal can be fooled by cues that trigger its evolutionary instincts. But only people use these cues to trick each other,” Angela Duckworth writes in a guest essay.
Opinion | Our World Has Become Ultraprocessed. We Can Change That.
The question is not whether we choose to plug in but rather how intentional we are about unplugging.

In the first term, 35% supported impeachment until the moment Dems announced they’d try to do it, at which point 55% instantly supported impeachment.

That 35% figure was cited by people like Nate Silver as why Dems SHOULDN’T impeach. But the public responds to elite priming and cues!
I agree that the public is behind the idea that he is unfit for office. What I don’t know is whether they think he should leave now or serve out his remaining two years.

YES!! And in case they respond better to visual cues, throw in some digits:

Jamelle is, as usual, the most clear-eyed political commentator out there. Democratic leadership should read this and take their cues from it.

Very excited about our latest paper showing how important environmental conditions can be for mating behavior - and how this varies across evolution

In Drosophila erecta food odor gates sexual arousal - and motion cues by other flies enhance the drive to court. www.nature.com/articles/s41...
Ecological and social cues orchestrate concerted courtship in Drosophila - Nature
In Drosophila erecta, food odours initiate male sexual arousal, which is subsequently reinforced by the visual motion of other courting flies, creating a multisensory mechanism that synchronizes court...

What biases cause us to fall prey to these content cues? We have research based results for that too!

I think they are taking their cues from Anthropic’s leaders and rationalist hangers-on. A lot of them are extreme China hawks.
I can’t get over how lazy and irresponsible the AI accelerationists are in regard to why Americans might hate data centers.

Impossible that Americans have reasons to take issue with these companies and buildouts, no way we have agency and are reasonably skeptical.

Since tone of voice is not available to convey sarcasm in a text-only medium, readers must rely on context cues. Often, however, such cues are quite evident to a reader — even a highly literal-minded reader — who devotes the slightest effort to discerning them.

Sounds like you've never worked with voice actors before.

I have, and I take this as a compliment, MANY TIMES throughout my career been called "A Machine"

I chew through cues for funzies.

Most of Highguard was a spreadsheet of callouts.

If Texas is going to stay blue or even just revert to purple I'd expect to see some compromises with conservatism. Whether those compromises are ones the left can live with seems like something we should go slowly and take our cues from the Texan left on.

Another demonstration of the difference between Ukrainian and russian FPV drones.

One happily takes cues from civilians and moves on to find targets, the other considers civilians targets.

Civilians on either side of the border are bound to have opinions on this post-war.
