Thank you, Rob, for the perfect timing of the #BirdOfTheDay — the theme is #FoodInBeaks #Birds #SpottedOwl #CaliforniaSpottedOwl

Last night I went on an owl-birding adventure with the local Audubon Society and a local biologist.
A California spotted owl perched on a branch at dusk, holding a small mouse in its beak; its round facial disk and dark eyes are visible. Mottled gray‑brown and white plumage blends with the bark, and a dark forest background.

A couple more from last night. 😀 Such an amazing sight.

Many thanks to the Central Sierra Audubon Society for organizing this trip, and to the biologist who led the outing.

Truly an exceptional birding experience. 💚
