Cal's new thing is demanding someone hold her face like a hamburger while she naps.

Where is she learning this.

I've cleaned up her face, given her the chemo pill and painkillers, and she seems to want to be back in her kitty bed resting, but I'm going to wake up one day and she won't be breathing and every time I think of that, I can't stop crying because I can't save her from this.

(You can mute her name.)

I had a moment this morning where I thought: it's so easy when she's having a good day to forget she doesn't have long to live.

She went to take a nap two hours ago, and when I woke her up to give her the chemo meds, she was bleeding.

I'm so scared.

Cal update: she still does the one fang thing out if you tell her something she doesn't like such as "Cal, I need to stand up. Cal, I need to pee, so I need to move you. Cal, nap time is over."

Cal's had her second dose of chemo. It's a big pill for a small cat, but the oncologist's advice to coat it in butter seems to be working.

Cal seems okay so far, but she scratches at her face, and she can get any cone off her head because she's so small.

Woozy author and woozy cat on a woozy day.

(Cal will groom as long as I sit with her at the top of the stairs and rub her tummy before and after.)

"Cal, you know I can see you, right buddy? You're not invisible."

"..."

Because Cal needs more love and attention now, whenever she's napping in the bay window, Indalecia comes over and requires I keep one hand where she can put a paw on it.

She has interpreted me spending more time with Cal as me needing cats to spend more time with me.

It was a ploy to try to steal my hydraflame soup.

Despite her small size, #CaliginousDrinkwell has abs of steel, and she managed to both open the dresser drawers and pull them closed behind her. That meant sometimes you'd wake up in the morning, open your underwear drawer, and this face would be greeting you. Also, all your underwear is now furry.

Cal immediately ran over when I posted that, jumped on my lap, and is pretending to nap.

Bonus shot of Indalecia in her tigersnail shell kitty bed in the background.

Cal curled up on Glenn and purred until he fell asleep — my spouse is famously weak to cats — and then as soon as he was out cold, she ran over to leap up on the trash can to get up on the counter tops when she suddenly realized I was watching her the entire time.

There's gonna be a lot of cat pictures under the tag #CaliginousDrinkwell, so feel free to mute if you'd like.

Just kinda thinking about this small, fluffy cat and the years together.

A lot of our early pictures of Cal didn't survive because she made old phone cameras go out of focus w/her floof.

Perky, even, for now.

The smell was all over town, inside and outside.

Glenn's coming home this weekend, so I won't be alone for a bit. I'm just terrified because the vet said when it happens, it'll probably be fast, but it also won't be something they can help with.

Photographing #CaliginousDrinkwell got a lot easier once her tummy fur started to turn white, around ten years of age. Suddenly, you could actually tell that when you got up for a second to grab a drink, she stole your desk chair.

Also, in high fluff winter mode, her legs were invisible.

I woke up this morning, and it took me 15 minutes to be brave enough to open the door of the bedroom. I was greeted by a weird smell, and I was terrified it was... y'know. The curtains to the bay window were closed and I had to force myself to open them. She was... okay.

When I was first clearing out an area to write, Cal helped me clean out the closet in the side room. She saw her kitty carrier in there, reached up for it, and pulled it opening-first over her head like the end of a game of Mouse Trap.

K. LeCrone drew her expression =]

I don't remember when she picked up Drinkwell as a last name. Just that she always used to run from the litter box at a million miles per hour, so we started saying "guess you have to pee like a race horse to run like a race horse" as she flew by.

Cal and Indi both loved to come help me write, Indalecia rolling over the keyboard while Caliginous would bat around the mouse, so I eventually turned one of the shelves of the book case into a kitty shelf so they could come nap while I wrote.

Cal's name at the shelter was Marcy, but we used to joke that she had to change it after she committed a type of tax fraud called a "Sark Lark."

Her and Indi already got along, so we decided we were adopting two cats instead of one when they worked together to steal my hat.

I'll do more later, but those're the main ones that were on my computer that I knew weren't on my phone. Glenn and Cal have both come in to see what I'm doing, so it's time to feed them.

But omg, look at Cal's muppet feet. Her toes are SO fuzzy, we usually trim them for her.

Cal's also not much for being outside. When Glenn started to teach Indalecia to walk on a leash, Cal got jealous, so we tried taking her for a walk.

She hates outside because there are birds in it and she's afraid of birds. For a long time, this was the farthest she'd walked.

Her middle name is Underfoot. That one is less... shrouded in mystery.

Did you catch that pun on the word caliginous just now? Glenn named her, in case you didn't know my spouse is also a writer. I named Indalecia, who was "Cuddles" when they shared a shelter cage.

I've been letting her nap as long as she wants these days. She just got up to eat food, so I'm getting to go put my contacts in and start my day.

I'm going to start tagging her posts with #CaliginousDrinkwell just so if anyone needs to mute me talking about her end of life, they can do so easily.
