What's happening Xinachtli (Alvaro Hernandez) is a 73 year old Chicano revolutionary organizer who has survived 23 years of solitary confinement under the Texas carceral system. Today, his health has collapsed under the weight of state violence: rapid weight loss, multiple falls, severe mobility issues, and increasing difficulty breathing. He is being held in the McConnell Unit infirmary under so-called palliative care, yet denied real medical treatment, denied diagnosis, and denied access to his own medical records. During his time in the infirmary, prison staff threw away his belongings, "lost" his commissary card, and have intentionally given him incorrect forms to obstruct medical visitations and access to care. Xinachtli is hungry, isolated, and his health is rapidly declining. the state has made it clear that they intend to let him die.
