Diese Bilder zeigen den berühmten Steinkreis "Callanish Standing Stones" auf der schottischen Insel Lewis in den äußeren Hebriden. Die Aufnahmen zeigen die gleiche Steinformation aus verschiedenen Perspektiven und unter unterschiedlichen Lichtbedingungen. Die megalithischen Steine wurden vor etwa 5000 Jahren während der Jungsteinzeit errichtet. Sie bestehen aus lokalen Gneisgesteinen und sind in einem kreuzförmigen Muster angeordnet. Die zentrale Steinformation wird von einem Steinkreis umgeben, von dem strahlenförmig weitere Steinreihen ausgehen. Die einzelnen Steine sind beeindruckend groß - einige erreichen eine Höhe von bis zu 4,8 Metern. Sie werfen lange Schatten auf den grasbewachsenen Boden, was besonders in der größeren unteren Aufnahme gut zu sehen ist. Die Landschaft um die Steine ist typisch für die Hebriden: weitläufig, offen und von Gras bedeckt. Die verschiedenen Aufnahmen zeigen auch, wie sich die Atmosphäre des Ortes je nach Lichtverhältnissen verändert - von kühlen, bläulichen Tönen bis hin zu wärmeren, gelblichen Farben. Diese prähistorische Stätte gehört zu den besterhaltenen ihrer Art in Schottland und ist ein wichtiges Zeugnis der frühen menschlichen Geschichte auf den britischen Inseln.

Another, wider photo at the Callanish Stones in 2013 taken slightly earlier than the last one. I find it peaceful there but I know others who feel a presence about the place. They're more perceptive than me, no doubt
