In 1990, long-time NDP leader Ed Broadbent called on Canada to end child poverty by the year 2000. Here we are now, 24 (or is it 34?) years later and the child poverty rate hovers between 15% and 20%.

Based on the reporting, it has been going up for the past 3 years, since 2023. That is before the 2024 elections.
Reserves has the highest rate.
I don't think children wellbeing is something to comprise on, blame a trade war. That failure has longterm effects.

It is not surprising but hard to accept that 99 percent of youth living on their own in Canada including youth in from care live in poverty.
