The problem with plumping Charlie Kirk as a right-wing martyr was that there was no there there, there was just shitposting, "debate" and grift. The modern US right is neither smart nor canny enough to understand why no else saw Kirk as acceptable for secular canonization. He ain't no Dolly.

I should add that, traditionally, the bureaucratic part of canonization is only a small culminating element. The much larger, more important part has been a community dedicated to remembering & living in a manner inspired by the eventual-saint.
As a theological matter, sanctity isn’t foremost moral impeccability, nor is there any generic standard of it, but rather sanctity is having been fully, even exuberantly the “you” that God intended you to be.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it made Nolan’s week. She took him seriously, which is the real capital. Fans never get that. It’s also why Beyonce can’t achieve the canonization she so desperately craves — her fans shielding her from precisely the kind of criticism that would elevate her work.
