To be fair to my fellow writers, there are some absolute gems. I read a T for Teen that was technically rated correctly but was SO HOT. They did everything BUT screw.

Listen.” He rounded on James, slowly, as not to startle him. “If I may be forgiven for forgetting my place. I will come home. I’m sure of it. And I will find you. My friend, James. You’re my friend, aren’t you?” James nodded. “And I’m yours, right?” “You’ll have to tell me about every bird you see while I’m gone.” Anthony smiled at James, who laughed shakily. “If you keep detailed notes about any artillery you see.” “It’s a promise.”
