Last year I met a shepherd who had tons of sakız sheep wool to give away. Sadly, the wool was clipped very short. Fortunately my cards are making usable roving from the wool. It will not make a soft yarn, but it will be yarn!

Having a blast learning how to use my new drum carder. 😊 This is my second batt in progress and it was a huge improvement over the first one. The cream base was much more consistent and solid and I’m getting the hang of adding bits of color.

This yarn started as a batt to test a secondhand drum carder with a mix of wool mill ends, sari silk, and hand-dyed mohair. I spun it on my Starling e-wheel and plyed on my Sparrow and ended up with 2 ounces and 240 yards. I'm thinking an @aimeeshermakes.bsky.social mitten pattern will be next. 🧶
