A8: I organized a letter-writing campaign after the #CarrFire destroyed nearly all of Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, and the notes of support that poured in were so meaningful. Should we pick one park each week and all write them notes? Flood them with #ParkChat mail?

We saw this after the CarrFire! Our ecological explained how roots can burn underground and create the vacuums that look like burrows or tunnels. Not saying this is true for where you are or these photos.

Correct. Note that we left on our sliding glass door just before we killed the lights, vented the propane and evacuated our home for the #CarrFire in 2018.

The #CarrFire was fully contained on August 30. 2.5 months later, crews continue to do active debris removal from residential and commercial properties that were destroyed. There is a process to minimize contamination to ground water supplies, etc. /34

We live deep in the #CarrFire burn zone. Nothing could have prepared me for the first drive back to our property. Yes, I had seen all the videos and still photos from all the media outlets and I had to pull over to sob many times. Do your best. It is heart-wrenching. 13/

Was talking to someone about the #carrfire today - and how impactful it was for me to visit the area in 2019 while serving on the CA Wildfire Commission. Found this to share with them and watching it now am just filled with chills.

I lived in Paradise through high school -- home of the #CampFire. My grandparents lived in Redding -- home of the #CarrFire. All of Northern California is expected to be regularly under siege from wildfires and we rely on Daniel to help us stay informed.

Recognizing that we’ve had big fires that have been in some ways similar (eg, Oakland, Witch), I do think we’re in new territory with the speed and spread into neighborhoods with #CarrFire and others.
