Not only was she a trailblazer, human rights activist & AIDS advocate but she was a beacon of hope & created a safe haven for the #LGBTQ community. I feel so blessed to have met her in 2017 and lucky to have danced in her legendary disco #CatchOne in the early ‘90s. RIP, #JewelThaisWilliams. 🙏🏼🪩🌈

Jewel's Room CatchOne, on Pico Blvd. up from Crenshaw. For myself it was the 80's and 90's. At times Jewel would be working the door. My last time there was in 1995, that was the night it was announced that my girl Phyllis Hyman had passed.
