I'm going to need to rework my gallery page for the species, which is now based in one outbreak of the species in a brick sidewalk back in 2018.

@wildflowerhour.bsky.social Obviously a massive cheat, given I'm not even in the northern hemisphere, but it all seems spookily familiar! #Homeandaway

Also on Arthur's seat today: late flowering but distant sticky catchfly; an even more distant candidate for rock whitebeam (2 angles of same tree); yellow oat-grass within easy reach.

My plant pack has arrived! I have an array: butterfly weed for clay, royal catchfly, and Bradbury’s monarda.

I’ve tried to grow royal catchfly from seed. It never took off. I’m excited to introduce some taller plants.

Whoa, catchfly is really pretty, I’m gonna try some. If you want a colorful, tall plant for pollinators, I had great luck with wheat celosia this year!

Silene dichotoma (Forked Catchfly) looking splendid earlier this week - twitched on 'waste' ground in Thetford on the way home from a week in Cley. Lovely find by the locals, thanks for sharing. #wildflowerhour

Photo taken October 10, 2026, of a Cardinal Catchfly flower that was still continuing to bloom. It is starting to turn cold in the mountains now, so next month I may not see them blooming. Also, some Native Nations used it for medicinal purposes. #photography #nature #wildflowers #landback

I was out most of yesterday, and missed #WildflowerHour, so am posting my finds for last week a bit late. It was practically all gone to seed, but I was pleased to see the odd flowering plant of Nottingham Catchfly, Silene nutans, at Dungeness last Monday.

From a distance you could mistake this species for something like Camassia (camas), but it’s a member of the gentian family; before blooming, you could mistake it for Silene (catchfly). With marbled pale blue blossoms, it inhabits dry, open areas east of the Cascades and is well-suited to …

My favourite patch for the official county and city flower, sticky catchfly. Shame it’s blocked off for cars because of potential rockfall. Pedestrians can’t get a close look at it now either. Lucky I’ve got a long lens but the fencing’s a bit of a problem!
