🌅 ☀️York Minster at first light - an old favourite - but still worth posting to cast out the shadows of the darker days - just looking at this brings a sense of calm and warmth - hope it does so for you.

The latest installation in Leicester Cathedral is so perfect for Advent and Christmas. I've heard all the other Cathedrals are jealous, and I understand why.

There should be cathedrals built for the worship of cock.

The stained glass windows would be a lot more fun, for one thing.

Cathedrals literally do have thrones (cathedras), that’s what makes them cathedrals and not big churches.

Whether they have a loo or not varies.

In September we launched a table to show which cathedrals are committed to making the switch to fossil fuel free banks and which are refusing to. Last month people went to pray in sorrow and lament at red cathedrals, for discernment at amber cathedrals and thankfully at green cathedrals.

It’s all big buildings of a certain age (but cathedrals are definitely a prime example)

Every November, England’s cathedrals take on a particular stillness. The great naves, usually busy with visitors, choirs and the rhythms of daily worship, become places where a whole community comes to stand quietly together.

Yeah. But I would add a lot of stuff that's claimed to be skilled craftsmanship ISN'T. I am sick to death of people who see no problem with awful systems that fail unbelievably held up as cathedrals just because of ego in software and tech.
