as with any genre you can define it as musical style or as a Scene or as a marketing term. But Cavestomp was real. Little Steven's Underground Garage is the best satilite radio station because it basically has no format. And there are still new bands playing in these styles and old bands touring

I saw them perform at a Cavestomp in the early 00s. They even did some new (then) songs which sounded very arena rock to my surprise

The Big Maybelle cover also scored 30, so in spite of the artist having no other points, I felt this deserved inclusion.

They’re really good, have been around awhile. For our music fest (Cavestomp!) years ago we had a battle of the bands for an opening slot and they came in second or third and probably should’ve won, so talented.

One of my very fave bands. We had them play in 2001 (Cavestomp!) and they were so good. We had to cut the fest that year down to two days cuz many overseas bands scared to come because of 9/11, but not the older guys! I’ve got their set list & photos in a box somewhere.

From Denver, last name Daboll (sp?) right? My husband (Dana) might, but unfortunately we never met, think we have a lot of friends in common - I know mostly SF/Austin & east coast peeps (did a garage fest for years w/Jon Weiss of NYC, Cavestomp!)

Right on. I don’t personally, but know many who do. (BFF was at WB recs during that time, met many of her colleagues at SXSW many yrs in a row.)
She still works w/Patti S. so have a Lenny Kaye connection. (I help put on Cavestomp! festival in nyc, he was our MC sometimes & helped immensely.)

It was great, we combined older headliners w/younger bands. Here’s a link to some (not nearly all) set lists, these are the ones I was involved in but partner started it in ‘97.

Love! In ‘99 became part of Cavestomp! in NYC, (3 day garage festival) we had the Monks recorded live. (Also brought back the Sonics for the first time in decades in ‘07.)

Like, how cool would it be if they performed at something like a Cavestomp with The Jackets &/or The Courettes?!

Album Review: Various Artists – Cavestomp! Volume One
Cavestomp is something of an institution. A largely underground, for those-in-the-know sensation, but an institution nonetheless. Garage rock is a collector’s genre: it’s a style of music that – like freakbeat and select others – didn’t go by that label at the time. Created (mostly) by American teen
