#Cawsey
Goodnight from Freya Algar, still a bit puzzled why she’s been left a collection of silver-plated raven’s bones in her grandmother’s will. Goodnight from Esther Cawsey, walking home from her boyfriend’s house at a fair lick given her fear of the Salt Way spirits. Goodnight from Hookland.

Goodnight from Lock’s Boat Yard at Breywych, where the oak and ash of beam trawler Advancing Alice are remembering a time when they were a forest. Goodnight from Ben Barwell, raging against his ban from The Cawsey Arms on rumour of mirefolk therianthropy. Goodnight from Hookland.

The sea will have blood, the sea will have beer
Or all of Long Cawsey will have much to fear
The sea will have beer, the sea will have blood
Or all of Cogg Cove will be drowned by flood

– Verse of the trad. Hookland topographical song/ritual offering song 'Blood and Beer'

I’ve spent the last few months creating work inspired by stories of the footprints left in the landscape, and those that I have added.

Here is ‘Walking the White Cawsey’, a short contemplation on the act of reconnecting with my ancestors by walking the same land.

"St Andrews town may look right gawsy, / Nae grass will grow upon her cawsey... Nae doubt for [them] yer bells wad clink / To find [the yanks] on Eden's brink" as Robert Fergusson might have said.
'Places for Scottish students, who study for free, are capped by the Scottish government and account for about 30% of students at St Andrews. Maintenance loans and bursaries cover basic costs, but those from lower-income families are...often left with less disposable income than...contemporaries.'
‘It’s like the Scottish Upper East Side’: shame and snobbery as American students blamed for St Andrews classism
Online comments reflect class tensions at Scottish university between those from lower-income families and wealthier US undergraduates

A fun morning at Scunthorpe Hospital Radio with Ian Cawsey and Rob Atkin. Great to see Hannah Amandla Cawsey too, who arrived from Ward 10 armed with cake.
Thanks to the staff on the Stroke Unit for appearing at the door, shouting for Christmas tunes.

I am going through @kathyjc.bsky.social and Edwards' Arthurian lit anthology to prep for a summer course, and laughed out loud at this. I wonder how many false leads the messengers followed with this methodology before they found the genuine article?
