Neat trick if you polycolonal ab's suck. Incubate them with fixed cells with a KO of your protein of interest, then spin. Protocol here: www.med.upenn.edu/markslab/ass...
I was amazed how well it worked on first try (I'm sure that I can completely eliminate unspecific bands)

“research shows that cells actively reshape the endoplasmic reticulum or ER…Rather than remaining static the ER undergoes controlled remodeling as organisms grow older. The team discovered that this remodeling happens through a process called ER-phagy”

A hidden cellular process may drive aging and disease
As we age, our cells don’t just wear down—they reorganize. Researchers found that cells actively remodel a key structure called the endoplasmic reticulum, reducing protein-producing regions while pres...

Classes start in a week (ah!) so re-sharing this!

Still soliciting suggestions for emerging model organisms for cell bio. "Model" can be interpreted broadly but looking for taxa that:

1) have an active research community
2) some combo of a genome, life cycle, culture.

Hi, #AcademiaSky! I'm a #newPI gearing up to teach a mid-level #CellBio course in spring 25. I'm implementing a final project where students work in small groups to make a poster on an emerging model organism in cell bio.

Please suggest potential taxa! Bonus points if you include a paper! (1/N)
