Central Coast residents invited to be part of the final Garage Sale Trail
Central Coast residents are being encouraged to take part in the final Garage Sale Trail this November, with the national sustainability initiative set to conclude after its 2026 event. Over two big weekends on 7–8 and 14–15 November 2026, households, schools, community groups and local businesses across the Central Coast can host a garage sale, join a community market or shop for pre-loved treasures close to home. Supported by Central Coast Council, Garage Sale Trail is one of Australia's largest community sustainability programs, with more than 300,000 Australians taking part each year to buy, sell and reuse items that might otherwise end up in landfill. Central Coast Mayor, John McNamara said Garage Sale Trail is a practical way for Central Coast residents to save money, reduce waste and connect with their community. "Garage Sale Trail is a wonderful opportunity for our community to rethink waste and embrace the benefits of buying and selling second-hand,” Mayor McNamara said. "Ever

An honour to lead and to serve
I’m deeply honoured to have been elected Mayor by my fellow Councillors for the next two years, and excited to get to work for our community. I look forward to continuing to deliver the essential services our community needs, and to ensuring we are planning for future growth in a financially sustainable way. I’ve hit the ground running and my very first meeting as Mayor was with Scott Goold, Regional Director of Business NSW. This was a fantastic opportunity to discuss one of my key priorities for the Central Coast, which is building a thriving economy. As Mayor, I intend to be a strong advocate for business, investment and job creation. I’m particularly committed to creating opportunities for local young people, ensuring they have access to meaningful employment opportunities and can build rewarding careers. Our region is home to more than 27,000 businesses including 14,000 sole traders, generating close to 100,000 local jobs. Together, they contribute to our regional economy, worth a
