This front yard parking situation is getting out of hand, Centretown.

As a Centretown resident, I would love to see these on our streets.

Ward 14 Centretown contributes roughly 3x the average tax revenues compared to other wards. Residential Property assessments remain at 2016 level while actual values have fallen dramatically. Yet somehow nothing can be done about the unique problems Centretown faces.

The fact that he's even comparing Ottawa in Centretown in any way with DTES should disqualify him from making any sort of commentary on the drug crisis…. and makes me wonder if he has spent any time in any Canadian city's downtown in the last 5 years.

I've been around Centretown for most of the afternoon, and lemme tell ya, if drivers think other drivers obey road rules; like red lights, stop signs, yielding ROW in crosswalks, no phone use, signals, legal parking etc, they're sorely mistaken.
I don't think I've seen a red light not run today.

okay listen. I have lived in Centretown for a very long time. I walk at least parts of Bank Street from Parliament to the Glebe daily. I am out at all hours of the day, from very early morning dog walks to very late nights that bleed into morning. I have never once seen oPeN dRUg use.

That stretch is probably the worst two-block stretch on Bank St in Centretown. The church at Argyle is also bad, but that's about as far as it goes for regular, concentrated drug use.

Oh city of Ottawa it's the Corktown bridge not Corkstown. Corkstown i believe is out Kanata way. The Corktown bridge unites Sandy Hill, uOttawa, and Centretown. Fun fact: the bridge was named to honour the Irish immigrants who built the Rideau Canal. #NeedanEditButton

While handing out Halloween candy, we heard Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and then this glowing combination of jellyfish and English knight walked up the street, vibing in the middle of the road.

This is why I love living in Ottawa's Centretown. You never know what you're going to see next.

anyways good morning.

We were delighted to participate in the recent launch of Healing Tree Path at Saint-Vincent Hospital, and to speak about the numerous benefits of trees, which are so deeply needed in Centretown.

(FWIW, as someone who works in Centretown and voluntarily spends a lot of time there in the evenings, I don't think it has gotten worse in the last year. Folks are just more dispersed.)

You never know what you'll see in Ottawa's Centretown. How about a red loveseat with a fry pan on it? I often see furniture out on the curb—couches, tables, dressers, chairs. But fry pans?

STAY in line! We are hearing reports of long lines at some of the polls in Centretown. If you are in line by 8, you still get to vote. Please spread the word!

The Healing Path will also benefit hospital patients directly, in addition to helping repair our fractured connection to the land we’ve treated so poorly. We hope this project continues to support the ecosystem in Centretown.

I'm gonna go vote but I have no hope. The amalgamated Ottawa that puts Sarsfield (pictured) in the same city as Centretown is not a cohesive geopolitical entity. It is an administrative convenience and the ultimate gerrymander to defend fort suburbia from urban needs.

Centretown coming out in force for McKinney would have probably got them the job, alas.

Together with City for All Women Initiative - une Ville pour Toutes les Femmes (CAWI-IVTF), we worked with more than 100 residents in Centretown, Merivale, Vanier, Beacon Hill, Strathcona Heights, and Sandy Hill.

in #Ottawa, esp Centretown, we see this on 2 or 2 ½-storeys (early 20th) that originally had a porch with a balcony directly above, all wood, which of course rots away 🫢
the whole mess is torn off, the balcony door furiously boarded up to protect sleep-walkers and EVENTUALLY, shit gets rebuilt 😜

City Directories date this house to some time between 1901 and 1909. In the latter year, the address was that of Henry Smith, contractor. #555 replaced a previous corner-lot house that had faced onto Bay Street.

A joy of living in Ottawa's Centretown is you never know what you'll see out on a walk with your dog. I have to admit a whole potato on a garden wall that looks purposely placed there is very low on the list of things I'd expect to see.

Tbf this is also true of Centretown if you believe in yourself and/or are driving a police car
An underrated feature of Lansdowne is that you can just park anywhere.
This person parks their bromobile here every day @ottawabylaw.bsky.social #autowa
