Difícil decidir-se, però els ceratopsids i ankilosaurids m'encanten, son les meues families favs de dinosaures

We recently backed a new dinosaur game named Herd of Horns. It's a TTRPG (tabletop roleplaying game) where you lead a herd of ceratopsids through the Cenozoic.

Full disclosure: they are a sponsor of the show, but we thought some of you might be interested in it.

The data heavily relies on Hieronymus et al for the investigation and classification of amniote cranial tissues (excluding muscle contacts). So far, no one has set out to improve on this or detract from its findings.

The Facial Integument of Centrosaurine Ceratopsids: Morphological and Histological Correlates of Novel Skin Structures
The horned dinosaur Pachyhinosaurus possesses rugose bony bosses across the skull roof in lieu of the projecting bony horn cores seen in most ceratopsians. This elaboration of typical ceratopsian orn...

This scientifically accurate game takes place in the Campanian, about 80 mya. That was a great time for ceratopsids, which are all featured in the game:

- Centrosaurus,
- Chasmosaurus,
- Pachyrhinosaurus,
- Pentaceratops,
- Regaliceratops,
- Spinops,
- Styracosaurus,
- and Xenoceratops

Maybe sauropodomorphs kerarinized their "lips" without interfering with the exposed tooth crowns? But again, WHY? No other animal does this. Duckbills did not retain their anterior teeth. Neither did ceratopsids. Neither did stegosaurs. Neither did other beaked saurischians!

Man, there definitely needs to be more hot dinosaurs in this world.
I'm talking Ceratopsids and Sauropods.

Arbitrary unrelated Mesozoic-to-Cenozoic vibe pairings:

Camarasaurids and indricotheres.
Therizinosaurs and ground sloths.
Ichthyosaurs and toothed whales.
Ceratopsids and rhinocerotids.
Dryosaurids and antelopines.
Ankylosaurs and glyptodonts.

I dunno. What other ones do you feel in your heart?

speaking of paleo items ive said this before but like, why are there so few plush ceratopsids that actually look decent. they almost always range between eh to terrible and i do not understand why

The last, last-minute #artfight I did this year! We have Otis, the Albertaceratops! I love drawing ceratopsids so this was wonderful. I loved the color pattern! #artfight2026 #teamcomedy #CapsDinos #dinosaur #paleoart

Trader Joe’s has confirmed that ceratopsids were, in fact, at least occasionally omnivorous

We don't have evidence of a global long-term decline, but ceratopsids and hadrosaurids in North America experienced loss of diversity during the last 15 Myr of the Cretaceous

and then ceratopsids are even more nuts, only being diverse large herbivores on a third of a continent and only having any other recognisable presence in one more

Similarly true in ceratopsids: the scales in Centrosaurus and Chasmosaurus (where known) are quite different from the HUGE scales of Triceratops.

That’s so cool!

I love ceratopsids! They are so funky!!

My favorite is newly favorited!

Lokiceratops!

This is a non-0% of why one of my crank hypotheses is that the reconstructions of most ceratopsids are wrong

do not understand people who like ceratopsids without a thagomizer. triceratops and friends are fine (i Guess!) but they're the cybertruck of the clade when you could be friends with a kiki giraffe. we all know what stacy gosaurus looks like but look at her squad. so majestic.

It's our 22/21/4 (together/engaged/legal) anniversary tomorrow. We made a cake. While I was painting the green, Matt disappeared off to the computer. "Are you looking up Jurassic Park island?" I ask. "Maybe..." So this is a semi-accurate representation of Jurassic Park in chocolate cake form ;P

What, like ceratopsids?

#JuneWorldbuilders day 17: enemy monsters
3 big ones come to mind:
Lastragons; a civilized species of anthro-ceratopsids. Massive, Eugenics focused, with a superiority complex
Wildfolk; superstitions of nature made manifest
Einodian Horrors; industrial revol magitech turned bio-mech clade of species

Society in Nasvene is the result of three things;
Tool use, Teamwork, and Language.
A species capable of all three is of "civil intellect". The oldest of these?
Either Irwinians; marsupialfolk,
or Lastragons; ceratopsids,
depending who you ask.

Ceratopsids like Triceratops are iconic—but how their horns and frills grew is still poorly understood. New osteohistology of a subadult T. horridus reveals major ontogenetic shifts in horn & squamosal growth & novel growth marks

On my mind, the Red Nomads hold a symbiotic relationship with ceratopsids, & if one is born dead/die young, their skull is worn by the next elder to channel its spirit & be a representative of both.
