My seven year old granddaughter found this in the air vent of their imported Toyota. Educated guess but think it’s Protaetia orientalis, the Oriental Flower Beetle. Not one I was expecting in North-east Derbyshire. #Cetoniinae #Coleoptera #Scarabaeidae

Los cetoninos (Cetoniinae) o escarabajos de las flores son una subfamilia de escarabajos de la familia Scarabaeidae. Los adultos de muchas especies son diurnos y visitan flores, alimentándose de polen y néctar o de los pétalos. #photography #nikonphotography #spring #beetle #flower #nikond3100

Eupotosia mirifica, la Grande Cétoine Bleue/Great Blue Rosechafer (purple edition??)
Here's the new addition to the Cetonarium, the terrarium I'm filling with european species of Cetoniinae! They are here in my palm drinking agave syrup, as they have just arrived and were very hungry.

Not only flowers though as beetles of the Cetoniinae subfamily also feed on fresh and rotting fruits, which gives them other names like fruit chafers, flower beetles, and flower scarabs🍎🍉. When on flowers, they feed on nectar and pollen, which makes them pollinator agents🌼.

What a beautiful flower scarab...found right here in N. Carolina! Meet Gnorimella maculosa, the only species in the genus here in the US. [size: ~1/2"]

Thanks to Wilson Laney for collecting/bringing it to me! [Apparently it's not often seen; I had not heard of it]
