Another important thing the Finnish CHOD Janne Jaakkola mentioned was that what makes the Nordics strong is not only military power, but our values, shared history, and personal connections that go back decades. This enables not only defence cooperation but integration.
Listening to the Nordic chiefs of defence at the Kirkenes conference, this is exactly what they say: support for Ukraine will continue and increase, but more importantly support is transformed into cooperation with Ukraine to mutual benefit.
Most importantly, it’s not just charity but a win-win: Ukraine’s own production capacity is increasing while European companies get to learn directly from Ukrainian battlefield experience.
