A theater hidden inside the Port Authority Bus Terminal? 🎭
We went behind the scenes at ChaShaMa's "Celebrating Art in Surprising Places," watched The Love Show NYC rehearse, and toured The Hidden Jewel Box Theater. Art really can show up anywhere!

It’s a carnival of performance art. It’s wilder than any drug-induced hallucinations. It surpasses any cinematic version of Carnival in Venice you may have seen, and it live. It’s been called the “Burning Man of galas.” It is the annual Chashama Gala, brainchild of Anita Durst, beloved as the Chashama Mama, and this is its 30th year. “I started Chashama so people could feel the power of creativity,” says Durst.

How do you build a successful, sustainable career in the arts? well, it helps to have some family money. Like Chashama, which was founded and is run by this person. Yes, the (Jinx) person you're thinking of is her uncle.

🖋️ The noise ends, I listen, the channel begins. My Residency at ChaShaMa was transformational. For nearly 20 years, the campus has been steeped in creative energy of residents past and present. The quiet, so deep it extracts the mind noise that is the enemy of the artist, was a great allowing.
