Save me chaebol Korean automakers,,,,chaebols save me
"That’s tough news for the climate-conscious Americans who want an electric vehicle built by someone not named Elon Musk."

Read @andrewmoseman.bsky.social on Elon Musk's plans for Tesla under a Trump presidency:
Elon Musk’s Plan to Make Tesla the Last EV-Maker Standing
Let’s see if it works.

you can't really argue the chaebols are unique to Korea when Elon Musk is shadow president

indian version of the korean chaebols, i think
randomly thinking about K3G again. i find it fun that at no point in the movie do they ever make it clear what any of the people in this family actually *do.* like they own a business empire that does... something.

its just one big company. a few chaebols fell apart but samsung runs SK
if the us gov is 5 companies in a trenchcoat then the sk gov is 4

chaebols are literally not in any discernible way distinct from any large german, US, mexican or brazilian company

Business analyst John Lee explains perfectly, in a 2 minute TikTok,
whom South Korea’s chaebols and how they made their fortunes.

the current administration less-so than prior ones, but the state itself certainly is, as well as prior administrations. not to mention most of the presidents were owned by the chaebols and i don’t see the chaebols costing up to china over the us, do you?

I'd argue that quasi-developmentalist policy is why South Korea ended up with huge chaebols like Samsung, among others, no?

Reading a book on South Korea’s Chaebols, and I think this is what the wealthy class in the US wants to achieve by supporting Trump. Concentration of business, monopolies/oligopolies, huge influence or control over the political and justice system... in other words, becoming untouchable.

“South” Korea, via massacres, dictatorship, political censorship, repression of worker movements, mass abduction and torture of children, pro-“West” churches and cults, and targeted investment in designated families turned intentionally into economy-bestriding mafia-corporations known as chaebols.

US Dems have every reason to be embarrassed with themselves when just two months ago, the world saw a bunch of South Korean politicians risk life and limb when their president let his worst instincts get the better of him. If a country rife with fucking chaebols can do better, you have no excuses.

Theres a lot of shit going on in the world rn obviously but need for merciless destruction of all Chaebols has def gotta be up there on the priority list.

This was only possible because of ongoing public scrutiny in Korea, not because of any goodness of the heart of Korean chaebols.
Samsung family in South Korea pays off record $8bn inheritance tax bill. IHT rate is 50%.

The family said that "paying taxes is a natural duty of citizens".

It establishes a benchmark for others.

Can you imagine the super-rich doing the same in the UK?

The bill is tied to the estate left by the firm's late chairman Lee Kun-hee, who died in October 2020.

inside of you, there are two chaebols
2 kinds of chaebol in K-dramas
1. Omg he's so handsome--his clothes! his watch! and he swoops in from his private helicopter to save female main character
2. Evil, conniving, backstabbing, circumventing the law to get what they want
(sometimes both, but often one of the two)

ok i dont think kpop, chaebols, and parasite are good examples of how s. korea is thriving atm. did u see parasite like its not going great.

comparable to other chaebols like Samsung/Shinsaegae, Lotte, and SK, the Chung family doesn't hold an iron grip over the Hyundai Group. but more than other chaebols, they certainly like to move their big heft in unison around like one tribe. maybe it's a construction mindset bsky.app/profile/aqua...
I’m left to wonder how the Chung family feels about all this. The Hyundai world HQ going up next door, another Hyundai office tower recently proposed south of that, the landmark-ish Hyundai Development Co north of it, and the whole project led by Hyundai construction…and this is how it’s going?

no pueden estar intentando vender este buzón. Es desesperante la ignorancia generalizada. Es repugnante la historia de Corea y es repugnante su presente, el mundo sería mucho mejor con las cabezas de los chaebols en picas

South Korea (1960s‑70s, Park Chung‑hee): Rapid industrialization was driven by chaebols (family‑owned conglomerates) that received preferential credit and tax breaks.

Watching #OneTheWoman #kdrama. What a great escape from that horrible world out there. Funny, feisty; can't wait for the chaebols to get their karma.
