6800(Ultegra) was superseded by 8000. Rings are not identical, but close enough to work. 8000 road double chainring spacing is *slightly* wider than 6800. But all ya really need to do is play with the stops

I love my mid drive but ended up putting a smaller chainring on it to get more low speed torque to get up hills, I don’t need to be able to go 28mph on the flats.

I'm a fan of Charles Rolls's style, especially since the size of his chainring makes it appears he's about to set a new land speed record.
Before becoming one-half of the famed Rolls-Royce motoring and aviation partnership, Charles Rolls was known to show his contemporaries a thing or two on the velodrome track.

I like the one that comes out of the Humber trail up around Weston - it has a wider track and I think a gentler slope so you don’t mash your chainring when you hit a landing.

Pro Tip: should you need to disconnect your quick link without the aid of pliers, because, say, you accidentally routed your chain incorrectly you can push the link against your big chainring assuming you have something narrow to push with like this pocket knife I happen to carry in my saddle bag

Brompton chainring now dropped from 50 to 44 teeth. Makes it easier up the steepest climbs and can now use top gear on the flat. Feels a better range. First test for it away at Buxton this weekend. Going to have a little explore before the match as I've done all the decent pubs in the town centre.

I usually run it single speed when not at the track. I can't go from a 16t to a 20t, but I can go 16 to 18 on the same chain. And those are two completely different experiences depending on the chainring.
That and a front brake are all you need.

I hear that, I went with a 1x10 with a 36t chainring for the same reason, I'll still have a good range to get me over all the hills around here, but no big outside ring to mess with my knees. It's like riding everywhere on the middle ring of an old 3x setup and works great for me.
